We are partnering with a leading investment organization seeking a VP AI Engineer to help drive the adoption of advanced artificial intelligence capabilities across research, analytics, and investment workflows.

This is a senior, hands-on position for an experienced engineering leader who combines deep software development expertise with practical experience building AI-powered solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with investment professionals to develop intelligent applications, automation frameworks, and scalable AI platforms that enhance decision-making, improve efficiency, and unlock new insights.

The role offers the opportunity to shape the firm's AI strategy while delivering production-grade solutions that create measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-ready AI solutions that support investment and research activities.
• Build intelligent applications leveraging large language models (LLMs), generative AI technologies, and workflow automation capabilities.
• Create scalable AI frameworks, reusable services, and common components that can be utilized across multiple teams and business functions.
• Partner closely with investment professionals to identify opportunities for productivity improvements, workflow enhancements, and automation.
• Translate complex business requirements into well-defined technical specifications and deliverable solutions.
• Lead the development of secure, robust, and maintainable AI-driven applications.
• Establish engineering best practices for AI development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and governance.
• Drive the adoption of AI tools through user-focused design and continuous stakeholder engagement.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their practical application within investment and research environments.
• Implement controls related to security, data access, model governance, operational risk, and system performance.
• Measure solution effectiveness using adoption metrics, business outcomes, and operational improvements.
• Contribute to the firm's broader technology strategy and AI roadmap.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
• 7+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting enterprise-grade software applications.
• Proven track record developing and deploying AI-powered solutions within production environments.
• Experience working with large language models, generative AI technologies, intelligent automation, or advanced machine learning applications.
• Strong software engineering background with expertise in Python and modern application development practices.
• Experience building cloud-native solutions, preferably within AWS environments.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and scalable software architecture.
• Strong knowledge of software development best practices including testing, version control, CI/CD, and observability.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate complex requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Strong judgment in balancing business value, technical quality, speed of delivery, and operational risk.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within investment management, asset management, hedge funds, capital markets, or financial services.
• Familiarity with investment research processes, portfolio analytics, or data-driven decision-making environments.
• Experience with AI orchestration tools, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, and agent-based architectures.
• Track record of leading cross-functional technology initiatives from concept through production deployment.
• Knowledge of AI governance, model risk management, and responsible AI principles.
• Strong product mindset with a focus on delivering practical, business-oriented solutions.
