Senior AI Engineer

About the Role Our client is a fast-growing technology startup building intelligent products powered by large language models, automation, and modern AI technologies. As they continue to scale, they are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to help design and deliver the next generation of AI-powered products and customer experiences.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys building products from the ground up and has experience developing AI assistants, chatbots, and agent-based applications in production environments. You'll work closely with product and engineering teams to turn ideas into scalable solutions used by real customers.

What You'll Be Doing
- Build AI-powered products and customer-facing experiences
- Develop AI assistants, chatbots, and workflow automation solutions
- Design and implement multi-agent systems that can retrieve information, coordinate tasks, and interact with external tools
- Work with RAG pipelines, vector databases, and knowledge management systems
- Improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of AI applications in production
- Evaluate new models and technologies to enhance product capabilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to rapidly deliver new features
- Monitor and optimise AI systems for quality, latency, and cost
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally within startup environments
- Proven experience building and shipping AI-powered products
- Strong Python development skills
- Hands-on experience developing AI assistants, chatbots, or conversational applications
- Experience building agentic or multi-agent systems
- Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar frameworks
- Strong understanding of RAG architectures and vector databases
- Experience building scalable backend services and APIs
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Experience with model fine-tuning and optimisation
- Knowledge of graph databases and knowledge graph architectures
- Experience with AI evaluation and testing frameworks
- Experience building voice-enabled or multimodal applications
