Python Investment Infrastructure Engineer
What You'll Do
• Maintain and modernize our shared Python library ecosystem: data access (datalib, rift, portfoliolib), machine learning, API services, internal tooling
• Lead cross-repo runtime and dependency upgrades (e.g. Python version migrations), keeping the ecosystem current and consistent
• Standardize build and CI/CD across projects using GitLab pipelines: typecheck, lint, format, test, with pyright and ruff
• Manage Python packaging and dependency resolution with uv (workspaces, lockfiles, private Artifactory indexes)
• Roll out and maintain shared project templates (copier)
• Upgrade core data libraries (Polars, PyArrow, Pandas) and resolve compatibility issues from new major versions
• Write regression tests to guarantee migrations preserve behavior
What We're Looking For
• Strong Python skills: comfortable across many codebases, refactoring safely, writing well-tested library code
• Deep familiarity with modern Python tooling: uv, pytest, ruff, static type checking (pyright/mypy), pre-commit
• Experience with data processing libraries (Polars, PyArrow, Pandas) and discipline to manage breaking changes
• Hands-on GitLab CI/CD: multi-stage pipelines, caching, private package indexes
• Self-directed, able to own cross-cutting migrations end to end
