- Position: Freelance Senior Java Developer – Banking Channel Transformation
- Duration: 12-month rolling contract (extensions expected)
- Location: Brussels (Hybrid – 2 days on-site per week)
- Start Date: June 2025
- Day Rate: €(Competitive & Negotiable)
- Languages: English (Dutch or French is a plus)
- Interview Process: 2 stages with fast feedback
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java (Spring Framework)
- Translate functional requirements into clean, high-quality, maintainable code
- Build and secure RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party systems
- Evolve and migrate legacy systems into modern Java-based platforms
- Collaborate closely with analysts, testers, and fellow developers in an Agile squad
- Drive performance, reliability, and security through unit testing, code reviews, and refactoring
- Participate in CI/CD pipelines and help shape DevOps best practices
- Contribute to a culture of clean code, pair programming, and continuous improvement
- 4+ years of professional experience in Java backend development
- Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming, SOLID principles, and domain-driven design
- Experience with Spring, Maven, Oracle DB, and REST APIs
- Familiarity with tools like Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, and NexusIQ
- Proactive communicator who enjoys collaborative problem-solving in Agile teams
- Committed to writing readable, testable, and maintainable code (TDD experience is a plus)
- Experience with code reviews, pair programming, and Scrum methodologies
- Strong sense of ownership and eagerness to contribute to team success
- Experience with modern CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines
- Background in regulated sectors such as banking, insurance, or telecom
- Knowledge of containerization, cloud deployments, or large-scale integrations
- Exposure to event-driven systems, although not mandatory
