We are supporting a major European transmission system operator on a strategic data platform evolution within the energy sector. As part of a long-term product team focused on asset data, we are looking for an experienced Data Integration Engineer / Integration Layer Developer to help design and build robust, scalable integration solutions in a business-critical environment.

- Role: Freelance Data Integration Engineer
- Contract: 12-months
- Location: Belgium (Hybrid - 2 days/week on-site)
- Languages: English + French or Dutch
- Start Date: ASAP / Flexible
- Rate: €Competitive & negotiable
Responsibilities
- Design and implement data integration and data management solutions (data quality, MDM, integration layer)
- Develop and maintain integration frameworks within a .NET / Microsoft environment
- Ensure alignment between business needs and technical architecture (functional & non-functional)
- Implement distributed architecture patterns (synchronous & asynchronous)
- Work with messaging / event streaming solutions and distributed caching
- Contribute to CI/CD setup, automated testing, and continuous build pipelines
- Support monitoring, audit, and traceability frameworks
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for production systems
- Collaborate within an Agile, cross-functional product team
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in .NET / Microsoft ecosystem
- Strong experience building data integration layers
- Hands-on experience with integration, scheduler, audit & monitoring frameworks
- Solid knowledge of REST, SOAP, XML, Flat Files, GraphQL
- Practical experience with messaging and/or event streaming solutions
- Experience with distributed systems and cache patterns
- Experience with automated testing and CI/CD environments
- Comfortable working in data-centric product organisations
- Professional proficiency in English + French or Dutch
Nice to Have
- Experience in the utilities or energy sector
- Experience within asset-heavy or TSO environments
- Knowledge of mixed Windows/Unix environments
- Strong documentation mindset and continuous improvement approach
