We are supporting a major tier-1 banking organisation building a next-generation Customer Master Data platform within a complex, multi-country enterprise environment. The client is strengthening their group-wide customer data capabilities and is seeking a senior Business Architect / Customer Domain Expert to bring a critical “fresh eyes” perspective to a solution already in development.

Logistics
- Role: Freelance Business Architect - Customer Master Data
- Contract: Initial 3 months (extension and long-term potential likely)
- Location & Hybrid: Mostly remote, (Austria on-site onboarding) with occasional presence in Romania
- Languages: English (German a plus)
- Start Date: Beginning of March
- Rate: €(Competitive & Negotiable)
Responsibilities
- Review and critically assess the Customer Master Data solution built to date.
- Challenge design decisions, workflows, and system configuration from a business and customer-domain perspective.
- Compare the new solution with legacy systems and the wider ecosystem to avoid repeating historical pitfalls.
- Identify overlaps, gaps, and discrepancies in customer master data requirements across countries.
- Help define minimal, scalable customer data attributes and workflows for group-wide use.
- Contribute to shaping a long-term, future-proof roadmap.
- Collaborate closely with Head Office and local stakeholders (initially Romania).
- Deliver practical, actionable recommendations, not just slide decks.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with customer domain and customer master data in banking, insurance, or financial services.
- Proven background in enterprise-scale, cross-country business or data architecture initiatives.
- Deep understanding of customer data lifecycle in local and global banking environments.
- Ability to assess complex solutions holistically and challenge constructively.
- Experience balancing local needs with group-level standardisation and scalability.
- Excellent analytical and stakeholder communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with group-wide or global data platforms.
- Exposure to customer data governance frameworks.
- High-level understanding of enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience reviewing or improving large-scale legacy replacement initiatives.
