We are looking for a Senior Azure Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a major European energy infrastructure program, supporting a large-scale digital transformation focused on system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

Logistics:
Position: Freelance Senior Azure Site Reliability Engineer
Duration: 12-month rolling contract (multi-year project scope)
Location: Hybrid (Brussels-based)
Day Rate: €(Competitive & Negotiable)
Interview Stages: 2 (with fast feedback turnaround)
Languages: English AND French or Dutch

Key Responsibilities:
  • Automation & CI/CD: Build and manage scalable, automated deployment pipelines and cloud environments.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management: Deploy monitoring tools to ensure service health, respond to incidents, and lead root cause analysis efforts.
  • Performance & Scalability: Continuously assess and optimize performance and capacity to meet future demand.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates to provision and maintain infrastructure securely.
  • Collaboration with Dev Teams: Integrate SRE principles into development pipelines and product life cycles.
  • Security & Governance: Implement cloud security best practices and cost management within the Azure ecosystem.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead on defining and tracking SLOs, and participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 system reliability.
  • Internal Tooling & Documentation: Develop internal tools to boost engineering efficiency and maintain detailed system documentation.

Ideal Profile:
  • Experience: 5+ years in a Site Reliability Engineer or DevOps capacity, specifically within Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Cloud & IaC Expertise: (1) Deep Azure knowledge: VMs, storage, networking, governance, and cost optimization. (2) Proficient with IaC tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates. (3) Strong scripting skills: Python, PowerShell, Azure CLI.
  • Monitoring & Resilience: (1) Expert in tools like Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Grafana, Splunk, or Elastic Stack. (2) Hands-on with incident response processes and SLO-driven operations
  • Containers & Orchestration: (1) Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production. (2) Familiarity with hybrid and virtual networking (VPNs, NSGs, load balancing, hub & spoke)
  • Collaboration & Soft Skills: (1) Excellent communicator and team player in agile, cross-functional teams. (2) Strong problem-solving and documentation capabilities.

Nice-to-Have:
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert)
  • Experience with tools or platforms like Kong, Event Hubs, or Dapr
  • Additional languages: Dutch or French
